Offshore Gaming Reform: Sri Lanka Targets Port City, Floating Casinos, and Online Gaming

(Colombo).- Government moves to oversee floating Casinos & Online gambling in Colombo Port City.

The entity will also regulate onshore casinos, cabinet spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
The cabinet had approved the publishing of the bill in the government gazette and presentation to parliament following a memorandum submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, as the minister of finance and planning.
Sri Lanka’s Existing Casinos Face New Licensing & Fee Requirements
Sri Lanka’s existing casinos are not regulated but some regulations have been gazetted, including license and entrance fees.
Melco, an international gaming group is also expected to open a casino at the City of Dreams project built by John Keells Holdings.
